Work is in progress at Rhyddings Park, Oswaldtwistle to construct a 600 square metre Macadam Multi Use Games Area with Thornton Sport’s unique integral sustainable drainage system, SudsSports.

Our SudsSports system incorporates a lightweight plastic sub-base replacement, to provide a sustainable and cost-effective combined sports surface and water management system. Rhyddings Park is the ideal site for such an installation, being a sloping, basin site, where drainage problems have been experienced previously.

The system being constructed will attenuate water underneath the MUGA, which will then be pumped uphill to gardens nearby to be used as a watering facility at new allotments for local schools, maximising the sustainability benefits of the system.

Work began on the site mid Sept and are due to be completed, weather permitting, as soon as mid-late October. Hyndburn Council are delighted with the progress made so far and are looking forward to opening up their new community sports facility which leads the way in sustainability.
