Wimbledon 2015

It's that time of year folks, dust off your bottles of Pimms and get ready for an influx of strawberries and cream as Wimbledon 2015 kicks off on 29th of June. With play every day apart from 5th of July, this year’s tournament looks set to be a fine one, with Murray showing particularly good form coming off the clay courts of the French Open and fully recovering from a surgery last year. Rafa Nadal is also showing signs of coming back from a terrible start to the year and fresh off the title at Stuttgart, but unfortunately got knocked out of Queens in the first round. Federer’s compatriot Stan Wawrinka is also playing the best tennis of his life and no doubt will be eyeing a possible win at Wimbledon this year after having gone up to number 4 seed in the world and beating the unstoppable Djokovic in the final of the French Open this month. Djokovic will undoubtedly relish the chance to redeem himself at this iconic stop on the tennis tour.

The ladies are also showing some impressive form. Despite being struck down with flu during the French Open, Serena Williams on her worst day is still better than some of her competitors on their best days and looks set to have an impressive Wimbledon. Sharapova however is coming off a defeat in the French Open. Here’s hoping that she can return back to her grunty best and give Williams a run for her money on centre court.

The summer months are a cue to grab a racquet and head down to your local leisure centre/ tennis club and play a few sets.
